    Экономическая выгода от территориальной концентрации производства и других экономических объектов в городах и агломерациях, возникающая в результате сокращения расстояний доставки грузов, создания специализированных централизованных производств и облегчения обмена информацией в городах-технополисах, приводящего к массовому научно-техническому творчеству (пример - Cиликоновая долина в США).

    Экономическая выгода от территориальной концентрации производств и других экономических объектов в городах и агломерациях, в относительно близких друг от друга пунктах. Например, сосредоточение в одном районе предприятий, пользующихся услугами высокопроизводительного «центролита», сокращает издержки на изготовление литых заготовок (в этом случае выгода двойная: на транспортировке и на снижении себестоимости литья в результате действия эффекта масштаба). В так называемых технополисах, концентрация специалистов достигает своего рода критической массы, что приводит к эффективному и оперативному обмену идеями, изобретениями и другой информацией, и в результате — к массовому научно-техническому творчеству. Пример, агломерация Кремниевой (часто – Силиконовой) долины в США, в короткий срок ставшей крупнейшим в мире центром разработки и производства электронной техники и технологии. В А.э. проявляется совокупность и взаимодействие факторов внешней экономии для различных объектов, входящих в агломерацию.
